The Blue Pub Methven has budget accommodation available in true authentic kiwi pub style; ideal for skiers, backpackers and budget travellers. The rooms are warm, clean and comfortable, and guests have access to a shared kitchenette, TV lounge and shared bathroom facilities. The Blue’s central location also means you are only a few minutes walk from Methven’s array of shops, cafes, thermal hot pools, movie theatre, restaurants, bike park, walking tracks or whatever else you fancy.

Really clean, comfortable and as expected rooms for the rate. All round a nice experience. Easy to book. Indoor and outdoor seating. Standard pub food that was good. Great tap beers. My only wish would be that you can get to the bar from the accommodation rather than walk around to the pub door. Fine though.

This is a classic country pub with budget accomodation above it. If you don’t mind that, it is one of the better ones I’ve stayed at. Everything was really clean, there is a nice (small) shared kitchen area, wifi was good and free, and there is a great balcony to watch the sunset. The pub is popular with a nice courtyard below and I didn’t have any issues with noise.

If you want 5 Star accommodation, perhaps not for you. BUT… if you want a decent bed for the night, very clean rooms, really good pub food and excellent beer, friendly staff, use of a kitchen (including cooking facilities and fridge) in the centre of town, and all at reasonable cost, you can’t do much better!
